HISTORY OF THE DEPARTMENT

Teaching of the subject Political Science started in the Kittel College in the year 1969. In the present Liberalization, Privatisation and Globalization age the Department of Political Science apart from imparting knowledge as per the syllabus of University is also trying to equip the students with information of National and International matters and to face the challenges of the present age.

The Department of Political Science is student oriented and tries to impart essential qualities and values needed by them which not only help them to live a better life but also help the society at large. We also intend to bring out the potentials of the students to the optimum level. As Political education is the essence of the day, the department is striving hard to bring balance between the social life and the individual life. In this direction developing the potentials of the students is our motto.

  • B.S. Sukumar, who joined the Department in the year 1978.
  • Martin J. Punith, joined the Department in the year 1986.
  • Ashwini S. Nippane, joined the Department as Guest Faculty in the year 2013.
  • Raghavendra S. Nragund, joined the Department as Guest Faculty in the year 2015.
  • Hanumant. Kalasappanavar joined the Department as Guest Faculty in the year 2017.
  • Siddalingayya Gudakatti joined the Department as Guest Faculty in the Year 2017.

Now the Department Consists

  • Avinash D. Hamsagarshettar joined the Department as Guest Faculty in the year 2022.
  • Subramanya Bhute joined the Department as Guest Faculty in the year 2023.

 

DEPARTMENT VISION AND MISSION

  • Develop and understanding of the Fundamental Principles and Theories of Political Science to include Foundations of Political community, the Structure and Process of Government, Citizenship of and forms of Political Participation and the Public Policy process.

 

  • Gain an Understanding and Appreciation of current Political issues and concerns and their impact upon the contemporary Political environment.

COURSE OBJECTIVES

  • Correspond to the General aim of Liberal Education such as Cultivation of Maturity of Mind, responsible Citizenship, respect for all creation and Human values in Particular.

 

  • To guide and help the students to enhance their individual potential keeping in minds the requirements of their Career.
