HISTORY OF THE DEPARTMENT

The Department of psychology was initially in- charged by prof V.B. Hiremath, In 1978 prof B.A Ganagi took up as a head of the Department, due to increase of strength prof M.C. Nandeesh was appointed as an a Asst professor in 1988. Prof B.N.Ganagi led the Department for a long time to its present glory in his tenure initiated number of reforms and innovative Ideas with the help of UGC Grants, He equipped laboratories. in 2011 with the Demise of prof B. A. Ganagi, prof M C. Nandeesh took charge as a head.prof Ashraf Shaikh serving as full time Guest – Faculty in the department. In 2010 department conducted First time two days’ state level psychology teachers Conference. Faculty members are giving Psychological Counseling to the students.

From Academic year 2005- 06 Semester System was introduced by Karnataka University and is implemented by the Department of psychology also.
