ANNUAL REPORT

Golden Jubilee Year Celebration 2018-2019

I deem it my privilege to place before you a brief report of the activities of the academic year 2018-19 of our College.                       

1.  About the College

 

KITTEL ARTS COLLEGE was born on July, 1st 1988 as a result of the bifurcation of the erstwhile Kittel College into Kittel Arts College and Kittel Science College. The College is managed by Karnataka Northern Diocese, Church of South India, Basel Mission Higher Education Centre, Dharwad and Affiliated to Karnatak University, Dharwad. Bishop Rt.Rev.R.J.Niranjan is the President of the BMHEC. The Basel Mission Higher Education Centre is registered under Bombay Public Trust Act 1950 at Assistant Charity Commissioner’s Office, Belgaum as a Trust E-39(DWD).The institution is named after the celebrated Kannada Savant and lexicographer Rev.Dr.Ferdinand Kittel (1832-1903), who came to India as a missionary in 1853; he was deputed by Basel Mission, Germany. He soon gained mastery over the South Indian languages and compiled the voluminous and important Kannada-Kannada-English dictionary (1894).His life and teaching set an example to the young students to emulate. The College is situated on the State Highway 73 erstwhile known as Poona-Bangalore National Highway No-04 and is within walking distance from any part of the city and accessible to all the necessary facilities. The institution aims at imparting a sound learning and liberal education. It provides instruction in Arts stream at the under-graduate level leading to BA Degree. The College aims at scholarship, fellowship and leadership. Its cardinal desire is to develop an all round personality of the young people with spirit of dedication for service. Hence our motto “NOT TO BE SERVED; BUT TO SERVE”. In 2016 Accredited with CGPA of 2.72 on four point scale by 2nd cycle of NAAC .

2.  Staff

The quality of an educational institution is measured in terms of the quality of its staff who carves the destiny of the students. In our college 13 Permanent, 12 Guest faculty and 05 administrative staff always work hand in hand for the welfare of the institution.10 teaching faculties have earned Ph.D. Degree in their subjects.

3.  Students

 The present strength stands at 553. The number of boys is 401 as against 152 girls.

4.  Result

The quality of any educational institution is measured mainly by the academic excellence of the students. Our college has been striving hard to maintain the best academic standards. For the academic year 2017-18 the overall pass percentage is 85.07%; this includes 134 Distinctions, 44 First Class; the percentage being 86.34% and 93% of boys and girls respectively.

5.  Achievement of the Students

Gold Medal and Scholarship

  • Our Student Mr.Hanumant Subhas Nyamagouda has received the Rao Badoor Putappa Benni Gold Medal for his highest Score in the VI Semester examination of 2017-2018 on 69th Convocation of Karnataka University, Dharwad.
  • Our Student Mr. Channareddy has received Dr. D.C.Pavate Diamond Jubilee Fund Scholarship for his highest Score in the I Semester examination of 2017-2018 on 69th Convocation of Karnataka University, Dharwad.

 

6.  Student Mentoring System

Our College is committed to enabling students to access support mechanisms to meet their academic needs. This policy applies to all mentors and mentees who take part in the programme. It aims to ensure that students have the opportunity to work with a mentor who will offer support and guidance on academic issues. Thus, a personal relationship is created for better understanding of the student’s aspiration, strengths and weaknesses. The College is committed to regularly reviewing the effectiveness of the student Mentoring Policy and procedures and making adjustments as and when necessary in response to the needs of those involved.

This Policy is underpinned by the following key principles:

·       Our students must be supported to achieve their potential while at College, in an environment where their wellbeing is fulfilled

·        Students who are at-risk of drop-out will have the opportunity to work with a mentor whose role will be to provide them with additional support in academic issues.

·       There is an evaluation process for assessing the effectiveness of mentors and mentoring program and also for identifying the possible challenges.

·       Sharing of mentee Information- In case the mentor leaves, the information about the mentee needs to be shared with the new mentor. There is a handing over form which needs to be signed by both the new and the old mentor.

Responsibilities fulfilled by Mentor:

·       Each student is allocated a faculty mentor at the time of admission.

·       A mentor successfully provided support to 49 mentees.

·        Mentors understood their mentees and helped them settle well in the new environment.

·       Mentor acted as a guide, coach and role model for the mentees.

·       Mentor were interacted periodically with the mentees to review experience gained and set objectives for the next period

Mentees:

·       Mentees were regular and punctual for meetings with the mentor.

·       They must attended training as directed by the mentor.

7.  Educational and Cultural Exchange programme with German Delegates:

German Delegates, Rt.Rev.Martin.Heinn,Claudia Brinkmann and others visited our institution on 9th October 2018 and delivered beautiful culture oriented lecture to the students community and also recorded beautiful message as follows “We have visited this institution on the occasion of golden jubilee year celebration. Really we are satisfied with the local hospitality and interaction with Students. The golden jubilee of the institution is a great event. We take this opportunity to congratulate the Management and especially the dynamic staff. Finally our best wishes to all to continue this journey on the road of excellence.”





8.   IQAC (Internal Quality Assurance Cell):

 

        The internal quality assurance Cell was constituted under the Chairmanship of the Principal in July 2009 .Since then to till date all the activities of the college are conducted under the IQAC. Faculty training programmes, workshops, seminars, programmes for cultivating students’ research potentiality, infrastructural development of the college; organizing seminars, workshops etc. are regular features of the IQAC. All the activities of various departments, societies, NSS and NCC are conducted under the banner of IQAC.

9.  Conducted Special Programmes on account of Golden Jubilee Year Celebration

1.   Conducted One-Day National Level Workshop entitled “Educational Contribution of Indian Thinkers” under the Department of Education on 11/10/2018. More than 50 participants from different colleges were participated. 




2.   Conducted One-Day National Level Seminar by the Social Science Forum entitled “Social innovations for Ageing Population” on 9/2/2019. More than 60 participants from different colleges were participated and benefited.





3.   Conducted One-Day National Level Seminar by Language Department entitled “Contribution of Christian Missionaries to Classical Kannada Language on 5/3/2019. More than 100 participants of different colleges were participated and benefited.

ಸಹಯೋಗದೊಂದಿಗೆ“ ಶಾಸ್ತ್ರೀಯ ಕನ್ನಡಕ್ಕೆ ಬಾಸೆಲ್ ಮಿಶನರಿಗಳ ಕೊಡುಗೆ” ಒಂದು ದಿನದ ಅಂತರ್‍ಶಿಸ್ತೀಯ ಬಹುಭಾಷಿಕ  ರಾಷ್ಟ್ರೀಯ ವಿಚಾರ ಸಂಕಿರಣದ ವರದಿ


ಕಿಟೆಲ್ ಕಲಾ ಮಹಾವಿದ್ಯಾಲಯ 50 ವರ್ಷ ಸಂಭ್ರಮ ಆಚರಿಸುವ ಈ ವಿಶೇಷ ಸಂದರ್ಭದಲ್ಲಿ ಶಾಸ್ತ್ರೀಯ ಕನ್ನಡ ಅತ್ಯುನ್ನತ ಅಧ್ಯಯನ ಕೇಂದ್ರ, ಭಾರತೀಯ ಭಾಷಾ ಸಂಸ್ಥಾನ ಮಾನಸ ಗಂಗೋತ್ರಿ ಮೈಸೂರು ಇವರ ಸಹಯೋಗದೊಂದಿಗೆ “ಶಾಸ್ತ್ರೀಯ ಕನ್ನಡಕ್ಕೆ ಬಾಸೆಲ್ ವಿಶನಗರಿಗಲ ಕೊಡುಗೆ’ ಎಂಬ ವಿಷಯ ಕುರಿತು ಬಹುಭಾಷಿಕ ಶಾಸ್ತ್ರೀಯ ವಿಚಾರ ಸಂಕಿರಣವನ್ನು ದಿನಾಂಕ 05 ಮಾರ್ಚ್ 2019 ರಂದು ಹಮ್ಮಿಕೊಳ್ಳಲಾಗಿತ್ತು. 

ಡಾ. ಕೆ. ಆರ್. ದುರ್ಗಾದಾಸ್ ಯೋಜನಾ ನಿರ್ದೇಶಕರು ಶಾಸ್ತ್ರೀಯ ಕನ್ನಡ ಅತ್ಯುನ್ನತ ಅಧ್ಯಯನ ಕೇಂದ್ರ, ಭಾರತೀಯ ಭಾಷಾ ಸಂಸ್ಥಾನ ಮಾನಸ ಗಂಗೋತ್ರಿ ಮೈಸೂರು ಇವರು  ಉದ್ಘಾಟಕರಾಗಿ ದೀಪ ಬೆಳಗುವ ಮೂಲಕ ಉದ್ಘಾಟನಾ ನುಡಿಗಳನ್ನಾಡಿದರು.  ಮಿಶನರಿಗಳ ಬಹುಮುಖ ಸೇವೆ, ಬಹುಶಿಸ್ತೀಯ ಅಧ್ಯಯನ ಮೇಲೆ ಬೆಳಕು ಚೆಲ್ಲುವ ಮೂಲಕ ಇಡೀ ವಿಚಾರ ಸಂಕಿರಣಕ್ಕೆ ಮುನ್ನುಡಿ ಬರೆದರು.  ಕಿಟೆಲ್ ಕೋಶಕ್ಕೆ  ಸಮಾನವಾದ ಕೋಶÀ ಮತ್ತೊಂದಿಲ್ಲ. ಅಭಿಜಾತ ಕನ್ನಡ ಸೇವೆಗೆ ಮಿಶನರಿಗಳು ನಮಗೆ ಮಾದರಿ. ಅವರ ಮಾರ್ಗದಲ್ಲಿಂದು ನಾವು ನಡೆಯಬೇಕಿದೆ ಎಂದು ಕಿವಿಮಾತು ಹೇಳಿದರು.  

  ಪ್ರೊ. ರಹಮತ್ ತರೀಕೆರೆ ಪ್ರಾಧ್ಯಾಪಕರು ಕನ್ನಡ ವಿಶ್ವವಿದ್ಯಾಲಯ ಹಂಪಿ ಇವರು ಆಶಯ ನುಡಿಗಳನ್ನಾಡಿ 50 ಸಂಭ್ರಮದಲ್ಲಿರುವದಕ್ಕೆ ಶುಭ ಹಾರೈಸಿದರು.  ಮಿಶನರಿಗಳು ಊಹೆಗೆ ಮೀರಿ ಕೆಲಸ ಮಾಡಿದ್ದಾರೆ.  ಹಲವಾರು ಭಾಷೆಗಳನ್ನು ಕಲಿಯುವ ಮೂಲಕ ಇಂದಿನ ಸಂಶೋಧಕರಿಗೆ ಮಾದರಿಯಾಗಿದ್ದಾರೆ.  ಪಾಂಡಿತ್ಯದ ಬಹುತ್ವ ಪಡೆದ ಮಿಶನರಿಗಳು ವಿವೇಕದ ಮಾರ್ಗದಲ್ಲಿ ಬದುಕಿದರು.  ಶ್ರಮಸಂಸ್ಕøತಿ, ವಿದ್ವತ್ ಬದ್ಧತೆಯಿಂದ ಸಂಸ್ಕøತಿಯ ಸೇತುವೆ ನಿರ್ಮಿಸಿದರು.  ಕಿಟೆಲ್‍ರು ಕನ್ನಡದ ರಸ ಋಷಿಗಳು, ಸುಪ್ತ ಜ್ಞಾನದ ಮೂಲಕ ಧಾರ್ಮಿಕ ನೆಲೆ ಮೀರಿ ನಿಂತು ಜಾÐನದ ವಿಷಯ, ವಿವೇಕದ ಚಿತ್ತದ ಮೂಲಕ ಹೊಸ ಹಾದಿ ನಿರ್ಮಾಣ ಮಾಡಿದರು.  ಧಾರ್ಮಿಕ ಸಿಮೋಲ್ಲಂಘನಗೈದು ವ್ಯಾಕರಣ, ಪಠ್ಯ ಪುಸ್ತಕ, ನಿಘಂಟು, ಕಾವ್ಯ ಸಂಪಾದನೆ, ಕಾವ್ಯಾಧ್ಯಯನ, ಅನುವಾದ, ತೌಲನಿಕ ಅಧ್ಯಯನ, ಶಾಸನ, ಸಾಹಿತ್ಯ ಚರಿತ್ರೆಗಳ ಸೇವೆ ಮಿಶನರಿಗಳ ಬಹುತ್ವ ವಿವೇಕದ ಪ್ರತೀಕವಾಗಿದೆ. 

ಶಾಸ್ತ್ರೀಯ ಆಧ್ಯಯನ ಅಭ್ಯಾಸ ಪ್ರಾರಂಭವಾಗಿರುವದು ಮಿಶನರಿಗಳಿಂದ.  ಆದ್ದರಿಂದ ಇದೊಂದು ಆರ್ಥಪೂರ್ಣ ವಿಚಾರ ಸಂಕಿರಣವಾಗಿದೆ ಎಂದು ಅಭಿಪ್ರಾಯಪಟ್ಟರು.  ನಾವಿಂದು, ಸಂಶೋಧಕರೆಲ್ಲರೂ ಮಿಶನರಿಗಳಂತೆ ಬಹು ಸಂಸ್ಕøತಿ ಪ್ರೀತಿಸಿ ಅಳವಡಿಸಿಕೊಳ್ಳುವ ಅಗತ್ಯತೆ ಇದೆ ಎಂದರು. ಅಧ್ಯಕ್ಷತೆ ವಹಿಸಿದ ರೈಟ್ ರೆ. ರವಿಕುಮಾರ ಜೆ. ನಿರಂಜನ ಬಿಶೋಪರು ಕರ್ನಾಟಕ ಉತ್ತರ ಸಭಾಪ್ರಾಂತ ಅಧ್ಯಕ್ಷರು ಬಾಸೆಲ್ ಮಿಶನ್ ಉಚ್ಛ ಶಿಕ್ಷಣ ಸಂಸ್ಥೆ ಧಾರವಾಡ ಇವರು ಧಾರ್ಮಿಕಗಾಗಿ ಮಾತ್ರ ಮಿಶನರಿಗಳನ್ನು ಕಾಣುವ ಸಂಕುಚಿತ ದೃಷ್ಟಿ ಬದಲಾಗಬೇಕಾಗಿದೆ.  ಶೈಕ್ಷಣಿಕವಾಗಿ ಭಾಷಿಕವಾಗಿ, ಸಾಂಸ್ಕøತಿಕವಾಗಿ ಅವರಸೇವೆ ಗುರುತಿಸುವ ಜೊತೆ ಅವರ ಕುರಿತು ಸಂಶೋಧನೆಗಳು ಮುಂದುವರೆಯಬೇಕಾದ ಜರೂರತೆ ಇದೆ ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿದರು.  ಪ್ರೊ. ಜೆ. ಎಸ್. ಕುರಿ ಧರ್ಮದರ್ಶಿಗಳು ಬಾಸೆಲ್ ಮಿಶನ್ ಉಚ್ಛ ಶಿಕ್ಷಣ ಸಂಸ್ಥೆ ಧಾರವಾಡ ಇವರು ವಿಶೇಷ ಆಹ್ವಾನಿತರಾಗಿದ್ದರು.  ವೇದಿಕೆಯ ಮೇಲೆ ಪ್ರಾಚಾರ್ಯರಾದ ಡಾ. ರೇಖಾ ಜೋಗುಳ, ಸಂಘಟನಾ ಕಾರ್ಯದರ್ಶಿಗಳಾದ ಡಾ. ವ್ಹಿ. ಆಯ್. ಶೇಖ್, ಡಾ. ಸುರೇಶ ಬಿ. ನ್ಯಾಮತಿ ಹಾಗು ಡಾ. ಬಸವರಾಜಪ್ಪ ವ್ಹಿ. ಉಪಸ್ಥಿತರಿದ್ದರು. 

ಮೊದರ ಗೋಷ್ಠಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಮೂರು ವಿದ್ವತ್ ಪರಂಪರೆಯ ವಿಚಾರ ಧಾರೆಗಳು ಮಂಡಿತವಾದವು.

ಕನ್ನಡ ಜಾನಪದ ಕ್ಷೇತ್ರಕ್ಕೆ ಮಿಶನಿರಿಗಳ ಕೊಡುಗೆ 

- ಡಾ. ಕೃಷ್ಣಮೂರ್ತಿ ಹನೂರು, ಮೈಸೂರು

ಇವರುಗಳು ಮೂರು ಮಹತ್ವದ ವಿಷಯಗಳ ಮೇಲೆ ಹೊಸ ಬೆಳಕು ಮೂಡಿಸಿದರು. ಪ್ರಶ್ನೋತ್ತರ ಚರ್ಚೆಯೂ ಈ ಗೋಷ್ಠಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ನಡೆಯಿತು. 

ಸಮಾನಾಂತರ ಗೋಷ್ಠಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಸುಮಾರು ಎಪ್ಪತ್ತು ವಿದ್ವಾಂಸರು ತಮ್ಮ ಸಂಶೋಧನಾ ಲೇಖನ ಮಂಡಿಸಿದರು.  ಡಾ. ಜಿ. ಎಂ. ಹೆಗಡೆ ಹಿರಿಯ ಸಂಶೋಧಕರು, ನಿವೃತ್ರ ಪ್ರಾಧ್ಯಾಪಕರು ಕಿಟೆಲ್ ಕಲಾ ಮಹಾವಿದ್ಯಾಲಯ ಧಾರವಾಡ ಹಾಗೂ ಡಾ. ಬಸವರಾಜಪ್ಪ ವ್ಹಿ. ಅಸೋಸಿಯಟ್ ಫೆಲೋ ಶಾಸ್ತ್ರೀಯ ಕನ್ನಡ ಅತ್ಯುನ್ನತ ಅಧ್ಯಯನ ಕೇಂದ್ರ, ಭಾರತೀಯ ಭಾಷಾ ಸಂಸ್ಥಾನ ಮಾನಸ ಗಂಗೋತ್ರಿ ಮೈಸೂರು ಇವರು ಸಮಾನಾಂತರ ಗೋಷ್ಠಿಗಳನ್ನು ನಡೆಸಿಕೊಟ್ಟರು. ಸಮಾರೋಪ ಸಮಾರಂಭದಲ್ಲಿ ಸಮಾರೋಪ ಭಾಷಣವನ್ನು ಡಾ. ವೀರಣ್ಣ ರಾಜೂರ ನಿವೃತ್ತ ಪ್ರಾಧ್ಯಾಪಕರು ಕರ್ನಾಟಕ ವಿಶ್ವವಿದ್ಯಾಲಯ ಧಾರವಾಡ ಇವರು ಮಾಡಿದರು. ಭಾರತಕ್ಕೆ ಧಾರ್ಮಿಕ ಸೇವೆಗೆ ಬಂದ ಮಿಶನರಿಗಳು ಇಲ್ಲಿಯ ಭಾಷೆ, ಸಂಸ್ಕøತಿಗೆ ಮಾರು ಹೋಗಿದ್ದಾರೆ.  ರೋಗಿಗ¼,À ಅಸಹಾಯಕರ ಮಧ್ಯದಲ್ಲಿ ಅವರು ಮಾಡಿದ ಸೇವೆಯನ್ನು ಸ್ಮರಿಸಿದರು.  ಬಹುಶಿಸ್ತಿನ ಕೆಲಸಗಾರರು ಕನ್ನಡದ ಸೇವೆ ಮಾಡಿ ಕನ್ನಡಿಗರ ಜನಮಾನಸದಲ್ಲಿ ಸ್ಥಾನ ಪಡೆದುಕೊಂಡರು ಎಂದು ಮಿಶನರಿಗಳ ಸೇವಾ ಮಹೋಭಾವವನ್ನು ಕೊಂಡಾಡಿದರು. ರೆ. ಮಾರ್ಟಿನ ಬೋರಗಾಯಿ ಹಿರಿಯ ಪಾದ್ರಿ ಆಲ್ ಸೇಂಟ್ ಚರ್ಚ್ ಧಾರವಾಡ ಇವರು ಮುಖ್ಯ ಅತಿಥಿಗಳಾಗಿ ಆಗಮಿಸಿದ್ದರು.  ತಮ್ಮ ಜೀವನಕ್ಕೆ ಹೇಗೆ ಮಿಶನರಿಗಳು ಸ್ಫೂತಿದಾಯಕರಾದರು ತಾವು ಸೇವೆಗೆ ತೊಡಗಲು ಕಾರಣವಾದ ಪ್ರಸಂಗವನ್ನು ಸಾಕ್ಷಿ ಸಮೇತ ಹೇಳಿದರು. ಈ ಸಂದರ್ಭದಲ್ಲಿ ಸಮಾಜ ಸೇವಾ ಮಹೋಭಾವ ಹೊಂದಿದ ಶ್ರೀ ಸ್ಟೀವ್ ಅಬ್ರಹಾಂ ಅಭಿಯಂತರರು ಧಾರವಾಡ ಹಾಗೂ  ಶ್ರೀ ಹರ್ಷ ಮಳೇಕರ ಐ.ಟಿ.ಐ. ಕಾಲೇಜ್ ಧಾರವಾಡ ಇವರನ್ನು ಸನ್ಮಾನಿಸಲಾಯಿತು. ಹಿರಿಯ ಪ್ರಾಧ್ಯಾಪಕರಾದ ಡಾ. ಶೀಲಾ ಕುಮಾರಿ ದಾಸ್ ಹಾಗೂ ಪ್ರೊ. ಎಸ್.ಎಫ್ ಹಳ್ಳಿಕೇರಿ ಇವರು ವಿಚಾರ ಸಂಕಿರಣ ಕುರಿತು ತಮ್ಮ ಅನಿಸಿಕೆಗಳನ್ನು ಹಂಚಿಕೊಂಡರು.  ಇಡೀ ವಿಚಾರ ಸಂಕಿರಣದ ಫಲಶೃತಿಯನ್ನು ಡಾ. ಬಸವರಾಜಪ್ಪ ವ್ಹಿ. ಕಟ್ಟಿಕೊಟ್ಟರು.  ಡಾ. ಕೆ. ಆರ್. ದುರ್ಗಾದಾಸ್ ಯೋಜನಾ ನಿರ್ದೇಶಕರು, ಶಾಸ್ತ್ರೀಯ ಕನ್ನಡ ಅತ್ಯುನ್ನತ ಅಧ್ಯಯನ ಕೇಂದ್ರ, ಭಾರತೀಯ ಭಾಷಾ ಸಂಸ್ಥಾನ ಮಾನಸ ಗಂಗೋತ್ರಿ ಮೈಸೂರು ಇವರು  ಉಪಸ್ಥಿತರಿದ್ದರು.  ಡಾ. ರೇಖಾ ಚೋಗುಳ ಪ್ರಾಚಾರ್ಯರು ಕಿಟೆಲ್ ಕಲಾ ಮಹಾವಿದ್ಯಾಲಯ ಧಾರವಾಡ ಇವರು ಅಧ್ಯಕ್ಷತೆ ವಹಿಸಿದರು.  ವೇದಿಕೆಯ ಮೇಲೆ ಸಂಘಟನಾ ಕಾರ್ಯದರ್ಶಿಗಳಾದ ಡಾ. ವ್ಹಿ. ಆಯ್. ಶೇಖ್, ಡಾ. ಸುರೇಶ ಬಿ. ನ್ಯಾಮತಿ ಹಾಗೂ ಡಾ. ಬಸವರಾಜಪ್ಪ ವ್ಹಿ. ಉಪಸ್ಥಿತರಿದ್ದರು.  ವಿಚಾರ ಸಂಕಿರಣದಲ್ಲಿ ಭಾಗವಹಿಸಿದವರಿಗೆ, ಪ್ರಬಂಧ ಮಂಡಿಸಿದವರಿಗೆ ಪ್ರಮಾಣ ಪತ್ರ ವಿತರಿಸಲಾಯಿತು.  ಒಟ್ಟಾರೆಯಾಗಿ ಇದೊಂದು ಅತ್ಯಂತ ಯಶಸ್ವಿ ಹಾಗೂ ಮಾದರಿಯಾದ ವಿಚಾರ ಸಂಕಿರಣವಾಗಿತ್ತು.   ಮಹಾವಿದ್ಯಾಲಯದ ಪ್ರಾಧ್ಯಾಪಕರು,. ಆಡಳಿತ ಸಿಬ್ಬಂದಿ ವಿದ್ಯಾರ್ಥಿ ಹಾಗೂ ವಿದ್ಯಾರ್ಥಿನಿಯರು ಸಕ್ರೀಯವಾಗಿ ಪಾಲ್ಗೊಂಡು ರಾಷ್ಟ್ರೀಯ ವಿಚಾರ ಸಂಕಿರಣವನ್ನು ಯಶಸ್ವಿಗೊಳಿಸಿದರು.  


4.   Conducted Udyoga Mela in the College premises on 22/2/2019; more than 700 applicants from different districts participated out of which 236 candidates were selected for different jobs.

v Department of English

The Library Orientation Program marked the beginning of the activities of the Dept. of English for the year 2018-2019. On 26.7.2018 the freshers who have opted for Optional English were taken to the library and oriented on the various reference books, the facilities of the library, the OPAC and such other details to help them wade their way in the maze of books . This Program also helped them shed their apprehensions about the new environment they were in and also served to enhance their level of confidence regarding Optional English.

On 4.8.2018 the Kannada movie ‘Chomana Dudi’ was screened for the benefit of the V Semester MEL English students as they were studying the text ‘Choma’s Drum’.

A series of lectures on Phonetics were arranged for the B.A.I Semester Optional English students, the lectures were delivered by retired faculty Prof. S.S.Antin.

On 23.8.2018 Shakespeare’s Romantic comedy ‘As You Like It’ was screened.

On 29.1.2019 a very unique program was undertaken in collaboration with the Dept. Of Hindi. ‘The Pariksha Pe Charcha’ was a dicussion on examination which was hosted by the Hon’able Prime Minister on the subject of examination and the stress that accompanies it. It was telecast in the library . As many as forty –two students viewed the program.

The Dept. Of English along with the Literature Society and the Women Empowerment Cell conducted an Essay Competition on 21.1.2019. The topics were as follows.

1.   Role of government in women empowerment. 2.Managing natural disasters. 3. Pros and cons of Kannada as medium of instruction. The First place was bagged by Bheemashankar Bhimaray of IV Sem. The Second place was shared by Nahida Gokak II Sem and Vittal Reddy IV Sem . The Third sem was won by Shreedhar Kyatanakeri of VI Sem.

v Department of Hindi

Ø  Celebrated Hindi day on 28th September 2018.Dr.(Smt).C.N.Hombali Principal Government first grade college, Alnavar, participated as a resource person and delivered lecture on “New trends in Hindi language and Importance”. All the students of the department benefited the programme. 



Ø  The Departments conducted various competition like, Essay writing, Self composed poem recitation competition to the students

Ø  The Staff and the Students of Hindi department visited to Library and Information centre for the purpose of discussion on new trends in the subject.

v Department of Education

The Department of Education conducted a number of curricular, co-curricular and extra co-curricular activities during the year 2018-2019. Bridge Course, Student Seminars, Group Discussion, Tutorial classes, Diagnostic Tests and Remedial Instruction, subject related Quiz Competitions….these  are regular features of the department. Apart from these,

The Department of Education in Association with Karnatak University Degree College Education Teacher Association(R), Dharwad and P.G.Department of Education, Karnatak University, Dharwad Organized One Day National Level Workshop entitled “Educational Contribution of Indian Thinkers” On 11th October 2018, Thursday at Worship Hall.  Dr.R.R.Madankar Chairman and Dean P.G.Department of Education Karnatak University, Dharawd   inaugurated the Workshop with lighting the lamp and delivered key note Address. Dr.M.Y.Savanth,  Rtd Professor of History and State Level Best Teacher Award Winner Kittel Arts College, Dharwad,  Dr.G.M.Hegde, Rtd Professor of Kannada and  Rajyotsava 

Award Winner  Kittel Arts College,  Dharwad Dr.P.K.Rathod, Assistant Professor P.G. Department of Kannada  Karnatak University, Dharwad participated  as Resource persons of the  technical sessions .  Dr (Smt) Ruth.S.Paul, Head, Department of English of our college, welcomed the august gathering, Dr.Raju.G Organizing Secretary and President of Karnatak Degree College Education Teachers ssociation(R) Dharwad introduced the guests , Dr.R.M.Jogul Principal of our college presided over the function and Dr.C.P.Manohar Convener of IQAC and Coordinator of Golden Jubilee year Celebration proposed  vote of thanks. 55 Participants from various colleges and universities atively participated in this workshop and expressed a positive opinion towards the works





 

1.   2. Conducted One day workshop entitled “Art of public Speaking”

The Department of Education in Association with Debate society of our college organized One day workshop entitled “Art of public Speaking” on 27th August 2018 in Room Number 04. Dr.C.P.Manohar   Convener of IQAC inaugurated the workshopby lighting the lamp. Prof Daniel Praveenkumar, Convener of SRC presided over the function.  Dr.Raju.G Head, Department of Education and Convener of Debate Society was  Resource person.  Two hundred students of our college actively participated in this workshop.

1. “Mock Parliament” –A special practical oriented programme was conducted on 22nd February 2019 in room no 04 under the guidance of Prof. Hanamant Kalasappanavar and Prof. S.N.Gudkatti. Students of the department actively participated in “Mock Parliament” and benefited immensely from the programme .

Ø  On 11th June 2018, World Population Day was celebrated. Dr. C.P.Manohar and Dr. S.B.Nyamati spoke on “Ill effect of growing population on economy”


Ø  In the month of September 23rd students of the department were taken to University of Agricultural Science, Dharwad to visit Krishimela-2018. Students gained Knowledge about recent innovations in agriculture.

Ø  Students of VI Semester were taken Yana and Gokarna to study the proplems and prospect of tourist in that area.

Ø  Analyzed central budget 2019-20 with students and staff.

Ø  Regular seminars and discussions were conducted in the department.


 

Ø  Project work was conducted on “Working of Central Warehousing Corporation in Dharwad.”Students visited the warehouse and interacted with the authorities. A Questionnaire was prepared and advocated. A project report also prepared by students.

v Fine Arts Society:

3. Fun week Celebration from 18-03-2019 to 27-03-2019

Fun week was conducted in the college from 18th March 2019 to 27th march 2019. The Students grandly celebrated the Fancy week, Group Day, Green Day, Black and white Day, Traditional Day, Eco Day. The following are the highlights of the fun week.




The Debate society of our college, conducted various competitions for the students. The main aim of all the competitions is to inculcate the art of healthy thinking and speaking in the students. The students of B.A, I III, and V Semester benefited from all the competitions.

1.   Organized Inter-Collegiate Debate and Bhavageeta Competition:

Rev. Ferdinand Kittel Memorial Inter-Collegiate Debate and Bhavageeta Competition was conducted on 15th February 2019. 44 students of different college participated in the competition. Miss. Shreya Deshpande of Karnatak Arts College,Dharwad won the 1st prize, Miss.Amreenbanu.M.Y of S.J.M.V.S Womens College,Hubli won the 2nd prize; Mr.Gajanan.Hegde of MES College Sirsi won 3rd prize and Miss.Durga.M.Oli  of B.N.D.C College, Dandeli won the consolation prize.

Miss. Vaishali.Kulkarni of J.T.College Gadag secured first place, Miss. Navya.Bhat of MES College Sirsi won the second prize, Miss.Varun.Bhat of MES College Sirsi won the third place and Fakiresh.Hulli of SJMV Mahant College, Dharwad secured consolation prize.

 









2. Organized Various Competitions for the Students:

Our Society organized Elocution, Debate and Essay writing competitions for the students. All the students benefited from the programme.

3. Achievement of the Students:

Miss Mahima N. Basutkar of IV semester participated in the following competitions- Inter Collegiate Debate competition organized by JSS College, Dharwad on 9.3.2019 and she has bagged the III prize. SheØ  has also bagged the II and III Prize in Debate Competition Nehru Yuva Kendra Dharwad and the District Level Debate Competition organized by Nehru Yuva Kendra Dharwad on 28.9.2018 and 16.1.2019 respectively.  She has also participated in the Inter Collegiate debate competition organized by Karnatak University, Dharwad.

1. International Yoga Day  

Department of Physical Education along with 3/24 NCC unit organised International Yoga Day on 21st June 2018, more than 150 students from our college were took part in the programme at Karnatak College Dharwad and special lecture was given on that day regarding the health benefits of yoga. After special lecture asanas like suriyanamaskar, salabasana, dhanurasana, halasanna were practised. 


2.Our College Volleyball, Athletics and Kabaddi Teams Participation in Karnatak University Tournaments Volleyball

Our College Volleyball Team participated in Karnatak University First Zone Volleyball Tournament for the year 2018-19



 Our College Athletic Team participated in Karnatak University Inter-collegiate Athletic meet for the year 2018-19 at M.P.E.Society’s, S.D.M. Degree College, Honnavar.
